Holiday Weekend Update

Well this weekend was a good one. Leon was off on Memorial Day AND Saturday so we had a lot of fun together. Saturday we went to the flea market and then to the Frist Center. There is an exhibit going right now featuring works by many artists including Monet, Picasso, Cezanne, Pisarro, and, my favorite, Salvador Dali. There was only one Dali and I was kind of disappointed, but I had never seen a Dali in person so it was still good. If you have never visited the Frist Center in Nashville, it is well worth it.

After all that we met up with our friends at the ballpark. Oh by the way, if you need photos of a sporting event, let me know....

Greenness

I doubt that I spelled that right, but you know what I mean. Right now everything outside is so GREEN! I love it. Rebirth, renewal and all that jazz. Fresh, lively and contrast... I shot a bridal session on Saturday and let me tell you, that white dress against the green was stunning. I can't show you those pictures yet, but after the wedding in August I'll post them. It'll probably do us all good by August to see a little green
"But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit." Jeremiah 17:7-8

Yesterday we visited my aunt and uncle in Manchester. It's pretty "out in the country". My uncle has a farm equipment "graveyard" where he keeps all the old horse-drawn machines that he used when he was little. It was good to be around my people... felt like home in my heart.

Mother's Day

Mama and me, 1972

For some reason, God has prompted me to share this. I didn't post a blog on Mother's Day and I probably should have but it's not too late. My mother went to live with her Lord in January 2005. I am reminded of her daily when I want to call and tell her something about my day or when I see a flower blooming in my yard. She was a very traditional southern lady and she passed that down to me. She had values that I didn't understand when I was young, but I have grown to embrace those more each day. Often I just wish I still had a person in my life to look after me like she did, but no one will ever fill that spot. She had an unconditional love for me and we always came first in her life. The pain of the loss will never completely be gone, but the memories I have will encourage me until we are together again. I pray that one day I can come close to the kind of Godly woman and mother that she was for me.

"Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate. Proverbs 31:29-31

Family of Four Plus Puppy

God keeps on blessing me with wonderful people to work with! Saturday I had the opportunity to shoot an awesome family (and their puppy) in their very own neighborhood. I think we all had a good time and the surroundings were perfect for photos. The girls are beautiful and as always, my clients give me some of my best ideas. Here's a little preview for the O's... in a few days, you will be able to see ALL of your gorgeous photos here.

Farmer's Market

It was a gorgeous day to be at Farmer's Market on Saturday. I went with my aunt and sister-in-law and we had a great time. There was a lady assembling bouquets of these beautiful flowers. As usual I had my camera handy...

And look who Leon found in the yard tonight...

Sweet Baby Boy

This little one was so much fun to shoot on Friday afternoon. He was a perfect little angel and very patient and cooperative even when we put him in the Moses basket! Thanks to his mom and dad for the opportunity. Here are some previews from his session... the rest can be seen on my gallery site.
